The Goals and Mission of the LIAPG:

• Provide a forum for geologists in the Long Island area to address professional, legal, economic, and social aspects of geological practice.

• Solicit opinions, professional and financial support, public action, and other measures deemed necessary by LIAPG to foster the interests of geologists and the public, and to provide input to Federal, State, and local government agencies engaged in the regulation of the practice of geology or professional services affecting the geological professions.

• Support geologic education in primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities in LIAPG's coverage area.

• Create continuing education opportunities for professional geologists.

• Assist geologists in establishing professionally recognized qualifications by supporting professional licensing and certification, professional education and development, and by supporting the standards of professional practice of recognized national and local geologist organizations (including AIPG, NYSCPG, AEG, etc.).

• Develop cooperation and communication with national and state geological organizations, supporting mutual goals, joint meetings, professional development, and legislative initiatives.

Membership in the LIAPG

A professional membership is $50 per year, an associate membership is $35, and a student or retiree membership is $25. With your membership you receive a $5 discount on each of our four dinner meetings per year, mailed/emailed announcements of our meetings, a voice in affairs concerning the local geologic community, and the satisfaction of knowing that you are supporting the continuation of our organization. We have also instituted a corporate membership this year. An annual corporate membership is $250; benefits include a $5 discount at each dinner meeting for up to five employees (students or others may be substituted for employees), your company name prominently displayed on a poster at each dinner meeting, and a public “thank you” from the LIAPG President at each dinner meeting. You can’t beat this price for some ongoing publicity and community good will!!

Please take a moment to fill out the membership form and send it in with your check. Please be sure to include your email address as the LIAPG will soon be moving to all email meeting announcements. For corporate memberships, please be sure to include the email addresses of your employees who are most likely to attend the meetings.
