The bill to establish professional licensing of geologists in New York State has been signed into law!

This field trip will focus on Plum Island Animal Disease Center’s (PIADC) mission, Plum Island’s history, geology/glacial geomorphology.
This visit will culminate in a tour of the island that will emphasize the geologic processes that created the island and its landforms; and, history of Plum Island including the former Coastal Artillery Corp Ft. Terry.
This is a first-come, first-serve event limited to a total of 32 persons with advance security clearance/background check requirements where required information must be submitted to Department of Homeland Security by 6 April.

LIAPG Educational Outreach
LIAPG member Ken Wenz (Genesis Engineering and Redevelopment) recently dropped by Hofstra University to speak to students in the Department of Geology, Environment, and Sustainability about working in the field of environmental consulting.
Ken's presentation included a discussion of Phase I and Phase II ESAs and a demonstration of some commonly used field equipment, such as a soil auger and portable soil gas analyzer.
